I think you've pretty well covered it. All the rest are not serious contenders for GC.

But Quickstep, Barloworld and Lotto would argue that sprinters are as important, or possibly more important, to sponsors than having a mediocre GC guy. Does anyone really think Moreau, Zubeldia or Mayo were actually going to win the GC, let alone podium? They probably care as much about seeing their name on a jersey crossing the line first as they do about a second or third place podium finish without a stage win. What team was Evans on again??? Thats right, he was on Robby McEwens team.

Team Slipstream is aiming to be a bigger player in the European road scene in 2008. After team director Jonathan Vaughters confirmed yesterday the signing of Saunier Duval's David Millar and two Team CSC stars Christian Vande Velde and Dave Zabriskie, he revealed today that the team has also signed a former winner of Paris-Roubaix.

Vaughters would not be drawn to comment on who the latest signing is, but the list of non-retired recent winners is short, namely: Stuart O'Grady (2007), Fabian Cancellara (2006), Tom Boonen (2005), Magnus Backstedt (2004), and Peter Van Petegem (2003).

Thats an interesting list. I'm not familiar with Van Petegem, but the other guys would make a solid addition to the team. My vote would go to big Maggie Beckstedt. Boonen is too much of a star in his own country to leave for some obscure American team. O'Grady is also a very good possibility.
