Default I'm annoyed by cycling and cyclists

No offense to anyone here, I'm not annoyed by ALL cyclists. I used to have a bike and would ride fairly often so I don't really have anything against it per se, just that it's the "in" thing right now. I can't wait til the trend dies down and there are fewer a-holes riding four abreast taking up half the road. YOU GET THE OUTSIDE SIX INCHES PEOPLE, MOVE THE EFF OVER!!!

A cyclist gets whatever they need to feel safe, even if that means riding in the middle of the road.

Hmmm...I get "buzzed" by drivers like you about once a day. Nice...real nice. It doesn't matter if your taking the outside 4" with drivers attitudes like yours.

In my opinion, it's a redneck attitude. Floor the gas just behind the cyclist to "scare" them, get a little 'close' as you go blowing by...pisses me off really. Of all people, a 'former' cyclist should know better.

I see groups of riders all the time, but I never see them riding 4 abreast in traffic.

There ought to be a Foxworthy joke somewhere in here:
"You might be a redneck if you ..."

If you need to ride three or four abreast on a road with a six foot shoulder and ample sight distance for motorists each way, to feel safe, then you're a pussy and shouldn't be riding.

More like though you're just a dick with a sense of entitlement, and you're giving other cyclists a bad name.

By you, I don't mean you, SteelBlue.

Did I say I "buzz" anyone or do any of the behaviors you listed? As one who has rode before, I am aware of the hazards cyclists face an that there are asshole drivers out there. But cyclists need to exercise courtesy and obey the rules of the road as well.

Try helping the widow of a cyclist who has been run over move. With her young children.

And then maybe you wouldn't act like such an asshole.

This statement also makes me wonder about how much you actually "rode" your bike.

Again, the only time I've ever been in a "multiple" person riding side by side is in a century ride. EVERY rider I've ever been with or even seen, is more than courteous knowing the dire consequences of getting struck by a vehicle.

As to riding over to the "right" as far as possible in a 6' lane...ok. For the most part, that is the right thing to do. However, if you've ever gotten off your three wheeled "big wheel" to ride enough on the real roads, you will also know that over there on the right of the 6' lane, is all the "crap" and you will more than likely have a flat within a mile of riding in the glass, nails, and who knows what else is collected over there.

Venkeman...I hope you're not a Utah citizen/resident. Most likely, you're going to kill me one day. (**Great, I just looked at your "location" and it is 'South Jordan'. I ride through South Jordan now and again. )

People like Venkman, if they end up killing a cyclist, are able to "shake it off", and continue with their lives.
