17.5 mph ain't bad for a century, depending on the amount of climbing and whether or not you had a strong group to ride with.

Well, not bad for me.

There were several stretches that we were hitting 22-24mph. But, I know I couldn't sustain that for 100 miles.

I wonder what my real average is as you walk your bike to and from rest stops, slowing for stop lights, intersections etc.

...most likely, if I took all that into account, my average would raise from 17.5mph to 17.55 miles per hour!

If I'm not mistaken, the Ulcer will be timing people who choose to do so. I think they are doing this for those that are prepping for the LOTOJA.

That would be a fun wager, with pride on the line...um...not you BYUPride...just the regular kind of pride.

That 'might' be enough to push me over the edge to ride in the Ulcer and the Sawtooth Century.
