bluegoose is on a distinguished road
Default I watched the Giro last night

I was able to catch the sunday recap of last week's stages at the giro last night.

Basso looked very, very strong in stage 8(???) in which he won the first mountain stage. He covered all breakaway attempts in a very Lance-like manner, and was unstoppable in his final attack with a couple of miles to go to the finish. His pedal stroke was very smooth and he looked very relaxed the whole time.

I have a hard time seeing how anyone is going to beat him in the Giro this year, let alone the Tour de France.

Il Falco did not look very good at all. When the lead group made the initial push at the base of the mountain, he was seriously struggling and did not appear to be having much fun. My guess is that he road himself right out of the GC on sunday. Granted its a long way from the finish, but he is not looking very strong right now.
