Default The church stays the execution

Perhaps they want to excommunicate him AFTER the November vote in CA, so as to create less headlines.

Smart thinking.

Of course, this might mean that more Callahan's are emboldened, and will cause the face of the Mormon electorate to splinter even more.

Or maybe his uncle Harry put in a phone call.

I'm sure there are many people in California paying attention to an eclectic ecclesiastical procedure of a minority church in Nebraska.

They will when it hits the newspapers and media outlets in California. Prop 8 opponents would be fools not to draw attention to it.

IMO, prop 8 is pretty much a dead issue here. There is very little excitement about it and it seems headed to defeat. I am not trying to be alarmist or take a side, just describing how it feels to me. I don' tthink this guy will be a big deal for that reason.

We were told this at church yesterday...

LDS Church - Exceeded financial goals

Catholic Church - Struggling with financial goal. Don't believe they will meet it.

Evangelicals - Have given up.

It is now being almost soley run by LDS folks.

October 8th there is going to be a special broadcast from the 1st Presidency regarding the issue. (Don't know if this is church wide or not. Could be California specific) At least this way I get to hear what the FP has to say about it and not my local leadership.

I agree.

I noticed that things tapered off after the 3 consecutive Saturdays of Walk/Talk. Our ward had moderate-to-poor participation. In the past few weeks, I haven't even heard Prop 8 mentioned specifically (except the announcement of the broadcast).

I really think it would be hilarious if the FP ripped into you guys. "The Saints in California are under condemnation because of their lack of consecration...."
