This is a brutal thread for me to read. I gave up candy for Lent - not that I'm really into Lent-fasts or anything, but I thought 40 days was a reasonable amount time and I wanted to see if I could do it. Then, last week I found out that Lent is longer than 40 days. It's 40 days, excluding Sundays, so the entire Lent season ends up being 46 days. I guess I could quit after 40 days, but that still feels like quitting.

Otherwise, I'm a Mike-and-Ike's guy.

That's why I gave up sugar...I originally gave it up for Lent last year. Even though I'm not from a branch of Christianity that emphasizes Lent, I figure we as overindulged Americans can all afford to give up something for 40 days a year.

The hard part for me was having to turn down a couple of birthday cakes and those Reeses Easter Eggs.
