Right now he drives a Duramax Diesel and it cost about 100 dollars to fill his tank. This will cost $6 and he can go 250 miles on a tank. The problem is he said once you get out of Utah finding Natural Gas for it is very hard, for example he cant even visit his sister in Idaho Falls because he would run out of gas.

But you can drive in the HOV lanes, and he immediately recieved a $7,000 rebate from the government. Also in Utah there is a 2 year waiting list at Ken Garff with a $2500 deposit so he bought his in California.

Not a bad idea, I drive a Civic for commuting right now, I might look in to one of these.

Seems to be the way to go if you are using the car locally in Utah. I have a gas stub at my house already installed, I wonder if I could get a converter.

I think you can get any car converted to NG.
Not sure how it would take to pay for itself. Its popular with fleet vehicles here (Oklahoma), but subject to the same refueling issues (current lack of infrastructure for convenient refueling away from home/fleet site). I think the max range is also shorter than a full tank of gasoline. And, of course then you are at the mercy of the price of nat gas.

I just read an article about this the other day. Apparently Utah is the only state where it's a worthwhile option right now. The article also mentioned that as more and more people jump on this bandwagon the prices will eventually match gasoline prices.

also, the reason that diesel is so expensive, is because the demand isn't very great. Apparently in normal processes, you make a certain amount of diesel very cheaply. Diesel therefore has huge profit margin. But they can't make more diesel without revamping their process, and that causes a lot of money. So it will take considerable infrastructure to increase the supply of diesel (and lower the price). But it may happen eventually.

Diesel engines are something like 30% more efficient than gas engines. therefore very common in Europe.
