Default How many miles do you ride a year?

This is related to Archaea's question but how miles do you get in a year? Any more I only get between 1500 to 2000 a year. It's just enough to survive on our Tuesday night group rides. When I was younger I would get 3000 to 5000 a year but when the kids arrived my priorities shifted. Also I like to blame this Rexburg weather but when I get the chance i still love to ride.

I'm about the same as you RC. I usually do about 2000 miles a year, give or take. The majority of mine happen before 7am, as my afternoons and evenings are not my own. Weekend rides usually start at about 6 or 7 am and are over by 10ish. It pretty much makes the wednesday night race impossible and the big saturday group ride tough, as they don't leave until 9:00am.

Right now I'm averaging about 500 to 700 per month, not enough but it's getting me going. The guys I ride with do 400 to 500 per week. I'm happy to do between 150 to 200 per week with running and stuff.

I don't think I have ever gotten above 1200 in a year.

I did my first metric century after having my bike one week.

More than once, my 100mile century in August represented 10% of my riding to that date.

Lotojaclassic is now on line for the first Saturday in September. Anybody with me?

I want to do it with my bro, which means I need to do a few centuries in August, maybe even the ULCER.

Goose, do it, as well as Viking. We can all bonk together. I'm good for about 80 to 90. After that I'm suffering. I've gone about 140 but man I hurt, so it should be real fun to suffer an extra 100 miles.

This could be chicken/egg territory. If I was single, what else would I do?

Correct. However, most of them weren't single or divorced when they started. And the women in the group do tend to circulate, shall we say. One gal I know has probably done every cyclists I know, who's not married, and maybe some of them as well.

And this brings me back to one of my favorite cycling themes for couples that I havent' mentioned in a long time: TANDEMS! It eliminates this prpbelm and all the miles are "together miles" (and if you aren't sure if that is a good thing, you will realize why they call tandems "marriage makers or marriage breakers").
