In a group, if you ride a tri, you just need to plan harder or not go down into the tri bars, which defeats the purpose of the bike.

I can ride better than most on the tri, but I myself was noticing the wobble next to my bud, who didn't complain.

However, it's also not so fun to show up to your tri without ever having been on the tri bike. My wife in fact confiscated the road bike, informing, no road until tri is over.

You're doing just fine.

Tri riding is different than normal riding, because one trains to save a little for the run, but not too much. It's a difficult balance to find. Sometimes in the midst of a race, one finds it so fun pushing then one gets to the end and thinks, "Oh Crap" I didn't save anything.

I just have a few years on you and you have loads of youth on me, so my bet is on you, not an old guy who likes to hurt.

Long, slow distance. My favorite.

Yes. But even LSD can be very difficult after a certain number of miles.

The problem is, some idiot always spoils that. We go out for a LSD of 120, and somebody gets the wild idea, that 20 mph is too slow. Next thing you know the group ride blows apart and you're out in the desert with nobody.

I've found that you almost always have to do your LSD alone. Otherwise you're riding at the fastest guy's LSD pace which might keep you out of your target range.

"Does anybody ever go on fun rides anymore?"

...this coming from a guy who wanted to go out and ride at 5:00am, 32° (or below), before the spring football game...in the canyon.

It's probably best to not do LSD at all. I hear it can stay in your system for years and years then at the worst possible moment, you could have a bad trip.
