Default The McCain speech was awful

I was just itching to change the channel to sports the entire time. The bad timing. The bad writing. Stumbling over his words. No logical flow.

When McCain started ripping on Republicans, you could almost hear a pin drop in that place.

The only part that caught my attention was the last couple minutes when he talked about being in Vietnam. Esp. the part where he talked about being broken, and how he was despondent in facing the other captives. That was as good as it gets.

When they panned through the GOP crowd throughout the speech, it was a who's who in "people I'd like to punch in the face." Has there ever been a more a boring assemblage of ugly people?

I've heard him before. He's a terrible speaker. He's a better debater than Obama however.

LOL.

The speech was okay, it worked. He had a tough act to follow.

He is certainly not the orator that Obama is. However, I think he did a pretty good job on content in terms of delineating himself and his record from that of the Dem ticket.

It was also very populist ... not surprising. We'll see how that plays with the base and/or the middle.

The story was himself and his life, and that came across, and so I think it was effective. I was also touched by his humility -- it came across as very sincere.

He sounded credible when he said, "I hate war." I was surprised by that.

That he sounded credible? Or that he hates war?

Also when he talked about having been broken during torture and not being able to face his comrades.
