What is canon?

In some ways, our canon is a strange compilation.

The Torah, and in some respects, even the Qu'ran makes sense, as well does the D&C, they read like cookbooks, very dry pre- and pro-scriptive.

The remainder of canon, though more interesting, is also problematic in that, the reader is left to discern what is filler, what is the revealed doctrine and what is cultural.
