Is that uncommon or have I just become accustomed to the liberal ways of life in SoCal?

I know many people who share coed houses, a few who share coed rooms, and while traveling I've shared rooms with girls many times.

Are people supposed to be mindless robots who have uncontrollable sex when they are at home alone with a member of the opposite sex?
