Default Lifting

Been lifting for some 2+ months now. Nothing serious. Once or twice a week. 3 sets on the bench, without spotter. Main focus is to maintain strength gains and not get hurt (shoulder).

Started with very small weights. Like sub-100lb. Have been weak for various reasons.

Anyway yesterday my last set was 6 reps of 185. Have 200 in my sights. 225 would be nice. Probably don't care to go beyond that.

People that used to foul me successfully when I was driving to the lane are now nursing injuries.

What a bunch of internet ninnies around here. I am pushing up a paltry 185lb 6 reps (not to failing btw), and not a single person to claim how crappy that is.

Or more likely, they are not currently going through a "bulking phase." Or if so, not wanting to hurt my feelings.

Or perhaps intimidated by my genetics.

Not me, but representation of my genes:

I took a stab with 200 lbs last night (that's the max amount on my home weights). Did 10 reps.

I find this highly suspicious. How does a free-weight home-weight set only have 200lb?

2 45s, 2 35s, 2 25s, 2 10s 2 5s + 45bar.

That's 285lb right there.

A smallish guy pushing up 200lb 10 times, with the implication of no previous lifting?

Hmm......

On Sat. did 3 reps of 225. So pretty close to my goal of 6 reps of 225. Hard to believe that it was not that long ago I was lifting less than 100.

I love lifting weights. I would lift weights any day over running. Now that we have settled into things here in Boston we just started our membership at the local YMCA and I can get back into it.
