Default Being the dingaling that I am

after I read the Legends of Gilgamesh from the translation of seven translators, I wondered what Akkadian looked like. Cunieform means wedge-shaped, but the rules governing their use are very arcane and complex.

In other words, I was sorry I inquired.

Actually it looks quite Arabic and somewhat Hebraic, IOW, quite complex.

Did you really just call yourself a ding-a-ling? That's funny.

I did a junior high project on cunieform. I had to write a paper, but you got extra credit if you provided a visual aid. So I bought a ton of play-do and rolled it out really thin and then used a wedge (it was actually a tupperware orange peeler) to make the characters.

man I was a nerd.

You would have been my type of nerd. We did a play where I tried to make a few sentences in Egyptian. I was weird. Afterwards, to prove we weren't nerds, we drank the rum we made in organic chemistry through the process of distillation. It was strong stuff.

A real rebel, huh? I never in a million years would have done that. But there was a guy in my biology class that used the bunsen burner to fry part of his fetal pig dissection, and then he ate it. I think he was trying to impress the girls.

We made the rum to get the girls drunk. It didn't matter they were already drunk.

Penn State is offering Sumerian in the fall. You should come out and audit the course.

The professor claims it's easier than it looks because there aren't too many conjugations. I'm not falling for that, though.
