Default anyone done philmont training for adults?

I guess my council nominated me for this (I have no idea why, I'm not even trained on the basic level).

This is not the stake president training thing for LDS leaders. This is regular Joe Blow scout leader training.

Does that mean the council pays for it?

Is this Big Philmont or Little Philmont? Little Philmont is some sort of overnight training program run at some local BSA camp for leaders in our area and our stake does reimburse for it (I believe). Big Philmont, well, I suspect you're on your own on that one.

Our Stake recently sent the High Councilor over Scouting to Philmont for 2 weeks. He took his whole family and it was paid for by the Stake. Probably the training you referred to in your first post though, for SP's/leaders.

I can say that I definitely won't go to both summer camp and this. There is a good chance I will also be releasing myself from this calling this summer, so further "training" is probably pointless.

If I was that HCor I would find that very depressing becaseu after that expenditure you KNOW you are not going to even get a new HC assignemnt, let alone a release, for at least a couple of years or more.

HC sounds like a pretty easy calling. Except for the excommunications. That would kind of suck.

Give a few talks, shoot the bull in a few meetings. Put together a few reports.

Slack after a while, and get released. Easy.

I think it depends on your stake and what the SP wants from the HC. My impression is that most fo the HC in our stake is pretty busy.
