Default Dutch Oven Recipes

I'm starting to get a little bit into Dutch Oven cooking. Mmm..the flavors seem out of this world.

Anyhow, for those of you who love Dutch Oven Cooking what do you think about sharing some great Dutch Oven recipes?

We really like this pot roast recipe. http://papadutch.home.comcast.net/du...e-potroast.htm

I've tried a couple other recipes from that site, but that's been the best one so far.

For those of you in Northern Utah, there is a restaurant in Lehi called Dutch Oven Buffet. At least it was there two years ago. You could go there and get some great ideas.

Out of business.

Then the rest. that replaced them is out of business.

Now there is a teppanyaki rest. there.

I started charcoal yesterday, in the rain. In the charcoal chimney. Took me 20 minutes. And I still smell like smoke.

I know this is not what you asked, but I thought I would tell you anyway.

We had a chicken/rice thingie. It was pretty good, but not spectacular. I want to try making pizza. Wow the scouts as they fumble with their foil dinners..

I own a Dutch oven but have never used it....

Someone explain to me how it works...

10 coals on the bottom, 10 coals on the lid and that is supposed to cook the crap inside?

it basically works like an oven.

You want more heat (more coals) on the top, than on the bottom (otherwise you will burn your food).

also, read up on the care of dutch ovens. You don't want to rust it out due to improper use (i.e. leaving liquids in it for too long, or using soap in it).

Tick, this is the website I used to get started, it's the same site where I got the recipe posted above. It has some tips on cleaning/caring for and using the dutch oven.

You want some good recipes? You should come down and talk to Lon, the Lon of Lons Cooking Shack.

He is a dutch over guru and has competed in several competitions.

I was lucky he was in my ward's scouting program because we ate very, very well.
