Can you make that panipopo stuff? the dessert bread covered in coconut milk?

what about manapua? YUM!
I don't make manapua but my mother does. And it is the best. Seriously one summer between semesters at the Y I had her make it and froze bags of it to bring back to Provo. I should, I need some bamboo steamers though.

Panipopo is Samoan. My cousins make it. I have never made it. My roommates used to make our own Hawaiian sweet bread though with mac nuts. It was so good.

I could eat 6 or 7 of those manapua and wash it down with some pog and be very happy.

How about malasadas from Leonards? Those were a nice breakfast treat.

Oh man. Malasadas are the best. If you ever go to the Big Island, stop at Tex's in Honoka'a. You can get them there hot and fresh and they just melt in your mouth.

I am heading to Hawaii this summer and I need to lose weight just in order to offset the 15 pounds I will gain there.

Ha ha, well tell you what: if I decide to brave beer bottles as missiles and f-bombs and attend the byu game up at RES I'll let you buy me a little Hawaiian BBQ, then we'll talk about converting. Still probably poor odds (maybe one in a million), but as Llyod Christmas would say at least there's a chance!

Next time I am in P-town I'll have to check out Matiki's. How long has it been open?
Matikis has been open for about 3 years now. Do you make real mac salad or do you make it poly style (three scoops of mayo with a few noodles sprinkles on top?)

I use a fair share of mayo but there's a ton of noodles there along with peas.

Sometimes I'll throw tuna in there too.

So is this Hawaiian BBQ stuff better than what you get at one of those luaus in Hawaii? I've been to two on Maui and the whole experience was fun, but the food was so-so.
