Okay you got me there. I read the BCS Guru's analysis and posted that East Carolina now has the BCS lead amongst mid-majors. Afterwards, you began this thread pointing out that notwithstanding the overall formula, BYU still has the lead in one of the many factors used in creating that BCS formula: the Coaches Poll.

'Tis true, BYU leads in that one category. Would this be a good time to point out that one of the BCS computers, the Colley matrix, has Utah #2?

What silly criteria is the Colley Matrix using? Wake Forest in the top 5? Utah as #2? USC at 36? NEBRASKA as #1?

Did they use a randomizer?

Yep, it's completely random. Here is a 23-page analysis of how the randomization works.

FWIW, his final Top 5 from last season were:
1. LSU
2. VA TECH
3. GEORGIA
4. OHIO STATE
5. MISSOURI

And his top 5 from hoops in April were:
1. UNC
2. MEMPHIS
3. KANSAS
4. UCLA
5. TENNESSEE

Clearly, however he determines his rankings, they work better after the entire season has been played and are totally useless at this point in the season.

We have a legitimate Top 10 offense and about a #50 defense. I wouldn't mind playing the Big 10 champion, especially if its Ohio State. I think BYU would beat them 10-14 points at home, 7-10 points on a neutral site, and 3 points in the Horseshoe.
A legitimate concern.
