Default The slippery slope of Religion & Patriotism

A previous thread got me thinking about something I've thought of in the past...but not brought up.

(Previous thread about Muslims working TSA jobs in airports etc)

When does patriotism, allegiance, loyalty to country, or national security trump "religious freedom" and vica versa?

For example: Not hiring Muslims for national security positions for fear of their religious beliefs trumping their allegiance to a country?

Remember during Desert Storm...a military captain of the US Army detonated a hand grenade in the middle of our barracks...turns out he was a Muslim.

Ok...so, do you forbid certain rights to a certain religion?...just because they are of a certain religion?...or not? Can you do that or do you then begin traveling down that slippery slope which would allow the govt. to come after say, the LDS people for some other thing in the future?

It has been said of terrorists that "not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims"...so, how do you treat a "religious" sect that could be dangerous/harmful to citizens of a country?

I think if the government discriminates against any religion, it has taken a huge step away from true freedom. The fact that this sort of thing can even spawn a legitimate argument is disturbing to me.

I don't care how many people Muslim terrorists kill, it goes completely against the foundation of our country to discriminate against an entire religion for the actions of its zealots.
