Southern Cal beaches
Will be in So Cal next week as part of the annual UEA Utah invasion. What is a good "family beach"? Don't need rides and boardwalks, etc. Just a nice, semi-uncrowded beach. Orange County or San Diego.

My wife and kids like Aliso Creek, south of Laguna Beach. My favorite has always been Salt Creek, a little farther south than that - the only drawback is that there's a long walk down a big hill to get from the parking to the beach. However, there's a large grass area that you pass by, which is good for picnics and other things.

At this time of year, the beaches are far less crowded. During the week, they are dead.
Nice beaches for fam: 1. Corona del Mar 2. Newport/Blacks 3. Victoria (Laguna) 4. Cleo Street (Laguna) 5. Woods Cove (Laguna) Aliso and Salt are also very nice. Can't really speak to SD beaches for locals.

It has been really warm here this week....like in the high 80s low 90s, so perfect for the beach.
Next week you will have the beach all to yourself. Water temp is still nice, as well, depending on what you want to do.

Blacks in SD is family friendly, if your family doesnt wear clothing. Blacks in Newport is fine....right by the Balboa Pier......North of the Wedge. Lots of stores and places to eat nearby, so good for kids. Also, the Fun Zone is not far, either. Nor is it fun.

I think Zuma or Manhattan are good if you're north of the OC.

In San Diego I recommend Mission Beach or Coronado, in terms of family friendly. Other popular sites such as La Jolla Shores and the the Pacific Beach and Coves tend to be geared more towards young adults smuggling alcohol in (which has been banned since Jan 1). If you are bringing pets, there is a Dog Beach which can found in the town of Ocean Beach.
