I'd like a third option. Yes it's a sin, but not serious enough to confess to priesthood leader and no more serious as many other sins missionaries might commit that they might not even acknowledge as sin, such as pride, laziness, arrogance, unforgiving, etc.
What about the porno suitcase guy? I think that one was extreme enough to confess, especially since it probably drove his companion nuts.

Confess? In my book, a guy who has persisted in this behavior gets sent home.

I totally agree.

I had three different mission presidents. The first one was a Russian guy who didn't even speak English, and he would send people home once in awhile.

The second mission president was a BYU Russian professor, and he would send missionaries home about once a month.

My third mission president came into the office and told me it was his goal to NEVER send a missionary home, because it has the potential to destroy a missionary's life and maybe even the missionary's relationship with his/her parents. I think the third mission president also has a good point.

People are voting "yes, it's ok" on this? Kinda surprised. This one seemed obvious.

My mission president worked his darnedest to keep guys on their mission.

I can only think of one person that was sent home (for pederastic tendencies).

BUT, he was also fiercely respected. So obedience was pretty good.

I didn't know of any missionaries in my mission that were off the reservation.

It never occurred to me that there were guys choking the chicken every night convinced that this was not something detracting from their spirituality and worthiness.

Maybe the intentions are good, but one missionary who is actively against the work can set the church back years in a city, not to mention screw up his companion's mission.

It's better that one elder perish... (and honestly I think a lot of times these missionaries being that destruction on themselves. Agency, anyone?)

Pornography is different than masturbation.

No doubt. As it currently stands, this poll could be Exhibit A for why some over "there" consider CG to be the home of the apostates.

there is plenty of apostasy over there. It's just not allowed to be discussed.
