I tried learning Greek on my own. It lasted about three weeks.

Some people are more disciplined than I am. They are welcome to try it.

This stuff is pretty much on the money. Not to say that learning Greek by yourself can't happen, because people do it all the time, but for me I needed to have a grade on the line and support from fellow classmates to pull it off as well as I did. Of course I ended up majoring in it, which might show just how perverse I am.
