I will admit, those situations are rare.

Maybe it's an issue of practicality. There really are only a few with whom you can have a sexual relationship, so the male beast figures why waste time being friends when you can seek out what you emotionally need.

As an addendum, there aren't that many females I find attractive, so I don't have to exercise much discipline. It's really easy not to think about it most of the time. It is a rare event, something happening less than once every couple months where I see somebody attractive enough to even have to exercise enough discipline. Most persons are so butt ugly, that is enough to kill the libido.

No matter how beautiful she may be, she is still a woman, and that is a hard friendship to manage. Guys are much easier.

This comports with my theory as well. I know very few good looking women, and as a lawyer, I get to know them too well, where most of them stop looking good after you know their problems. And some lesser lookers become better looking once you see their true character.

It's funny because the trend that I hear from most of the girls I talk to is always...."I have more guy friends than girl friends...I get along better with guys..."

And then a Harry and Sally like conversation ensues where she refuses to believe that most of her guy friends want to have sex with her or would have sex with her. Naivety in Mormon Dating is even worse that way.

You were right and she was wrong and this is why, much to my daughter's consternation, I find myself being much more concerned about her dating than i was with my son. ANyone who says you were not right, btw, is either lying or is certain the guy was gay and even then you are probably still right at some level.

As a father of two dating girls, I agree.
