Wasn't true when I went there early to mid 90's. Highly doubt that it's true now. I would have heard about this, I think.

Really? That might be too much for me, if true.

That was certainly my reaction, nad I am gald to hear that it may not be true. I was told this, however, by a guy in my stake whose daughter is a freshman there.

I wouldn't care about small, unobtrusive paintings of Christ, but to make it a sideshow and to waste time praying in class would be too much, outside of religion classes.

BYU experience ranks second only to my mission. Probably the most comfortable campus, opportunity to work with professors on research, be a TA, to associate with so many great people and examples.

Awesome library, ranked #3 nationally.

Memorable football game vs. Utah with Doman, memorable basketball games vs. Oklahoma St, and women's vs. Texas.

That's funny. Not even close to being true.

I was there 93-95. Don't recall the pictures. I do, however, remember that almost all classes began with a prayer.

I suppose it may depend on the discipline. But I have it on good authority that there is no requirement for religious pictures nor for prayers at the beginning of class. Entirely up to the instructor.

I'm having a very hard time remembering any class start with a prayer that wasn't a religion class.

I used to pray for my Accounting 201 class to end since it went from 7:45-10:15 PM and the professor was drier than an Archaea philosophy post.

I only took general ed classes during that period. I'm surprised others didn't experience this. It never bothered me.
