That is impressive at any weight, but at 300, that means you are pretty flexible. You have to be able to squat low, jump as high as possible, kick your leg straight out, and land it all within a matter of a seconds?

If you dont nail it exactly on your bolts, you are looking at a snapped deck.

I saw Ryan Sheckler skate at the Open in HB last summer. that kid is amazing. he did a cool trick called a Beni-Hana finger flip. Would have been cool to catch him when he was around 8 or 9.
I better add a disclaimer that I have not tried in about a year but I used to be able to do one. I think it would come back pretty easily. I also practiced every day in highschool, I didnt really skate, all I wanted to learn was hot to do a kick flip, so I practiced it over and over again.

This time of year I wish I could play more. I still get out about 4-6 times a week in the summer, including tournaments.

I am not really a good skater, nor a good teacher but we are working on the mechanics of an ollie. :-)

Oh and I am 6'2" and can't dunk anymore (too out of shape), but I did dunk in several HS games :-).
I learned to ollie on the carpet. I did not hurt when I fell. Some say that it is best to learn on the street so you can also get the feel of the board rolling under you.

One thing for sure...you teach your 7 year old how to ollie...that kid is going to rock by the time he hits his teens. Little kids have no fear.

wax is awesome. I use Sticky Bumps (for board, not skate).

Wow. Is this grass, sand, or indoor? That's a lot of volleyball.

I thought you looked pretty tall next to that camel.

This is true. I think it's best to learn on the street. It's also true that kids have no fear. I've turned into a pussy in my old age of 29.

Well, I always assumed I was between 5'6'' and 5'7", so I rounded up to 5'7" But, I'm pretty sure I'm not taller than you, so perhaps I should have answered 5'6".

Oh, and I've never attempted to dunk a basketball.

Ha! You may be taller (I'm 5'9") but I can no longer dunk because of knees and out of shape issues. (Mostly out of shape issues.)

Add that to seeing the Smiths in NYC and not being a lawyer and I pwn you.

I'm also 5'6". My wife was about 5'8" when we got married, and has since grown nearly an inch after having the baby.

I'm pretty short for a guy, and it's a disadvantage. I just work hard to avoid developing little-man-disease.
