Are these the same swindles that own galleries in the Provo/SLC area?

I have a friend who married into that family. Last time I was at their place they ahd some cheesy art in their living room (I think a Christensen of yard gnomes).

Who would want that staring down from the wall of your family room?

But hey, that's just me. If you have them all over your house, then swell for you.
Although I do own a print of one of her paintings, they aren't "all over my house" ... and I wasn't asking out of personal animus. I was just curious. There are people who don't like stuff just because it's popular, ya know. It's one reason I hated Titanic, frankly.

As to "who would want that ...", I think her paintings have sold quite well. Popularity doesn't necessarily equal quality (hello, Pirates 2 and 3), but it appears plenty of folks want them.

Anyone ever see that terrible picture of the couple holding hands looking out at the planets and eternities they have created. My wife's grandparents have the original of that painting in their house.

I for one think Mormon art is just terrible.

Thus ensuring it would soon be given to another lucky couple.

Speaking of Mormon art, I sent to high school with this fellow. Most of his stuff appears to be Mormon themed. I saw one of his statues once on the street in St. George. I had no idea he was a man of so many talents. But he did take state in wrestling. I figure he must have made or inherited a boatload of money so he can dedicate his life to this, unless it's more remunerative than I realize. That would be the life.

Gary Smith started out doing commission work for the church. One of his pieces was used in the flip charts. He quit doing work for the church, spread his wings and his work became very popular commercially, both in and outside the Intermountain West. Anyone else a fan of his?

Smart guy...this is a good commercial idea:

"Jim's work is figurative, emphasizing movement and action. He has created many pieces depicting athletic subjects and themes. In 2004, combining his business background with his enthusiasm for sports, Jim began the series titled "Suits". This series uses sports as a metaphor to explore the competitive nature of business. "Business has become for many the sport of a lifetime," Jim says. Looking at various aspects of business life, Jim presents the contemporary businessman's daily struggle with himself and others in an ironic and humorous fashion. "

He has had a great career. Some consider him to be the top western artist today.
