And just as a background, Kimmel has a long running joke where he ends his show by saying that they had to bump Damon because they didn't have time. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel often says "Our apologies to Matt Damon, we ran out of time" near the end of his ABC television show Jimmy Kimmel Live, a gag lampooning instances where shows can't feature their last guest due to time constraints. On September 12, 2006, after a segment highlighting the running gag and a lengthy introduction by Kimmel, Damon appeared on the show, only to be turned away by Kimmel. Damon then cursed at Kimmel, threw a fit, and stormed off the set, followed by Kimmel. There was initially confusion as to whether Damon's reaction was scripted or honestly emotional. Eventually, it was revealed Damon was in on the sketch and had planned it with Kimmel and the show's producers.

It has been a long running joke with Kimmell. It was entirely a joke on Damon's part and I found it hillarious. Damon is one of the few stars in Hollywood now that has a good sense of humor and on top of that, is a terrific actor.
