Calling all computer geeks: Help, Please
At home I am running windows XP pro on a computer with a P4 2.4 MhZ, 1 gig of RAM and a bunch of other stuff that seems to handle most programs. I browse on IE5. I have separate user accounts set up for my wife (with adminstrator privileges) and my three kids. We have anti-virus software, we defrag once week, and use a very strict internet filter, which my wife and I disable when we browse.
For the last year all was just fine. SUddenly, two days ago, when using Yahoo e-mail, no one except my account can reply or forward a Yahoo message. On my account it all works fine, regardless of the user name that one is signed onto the computer with. ON any other account, when you attempt to reply or forward a message in Yahoo there is no box in which to type text. Everything else opens, but there is simply no place to type any message. What the heck happened and how can I fix it? Any help would be VERY much appreciated. |

Update: AFter trying to figure out where the prioblem is, I sort of narrowed it down to the browser, although I couldn't for the life of me figure out what about the browser was the problem. Rather than wallow in it, I decided to try out Firefox, which I downloaded and instaleld and which solved the problem (within Firefox; IE6 still has the same problem), Go figure. I guess I am a firefox guy, now.

Using Firefox is you best option anyway
I was wondering what type of anti spyware you have installed. I would recommend using both Ad-Aware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
and the Microsoft Anti-Spyware. go to microsoft .com for that one. Adaware is good for cleaning up the normal nastiness that comes around, while the microsoft version is good for real-time monitoring and restoring your IE browser to how it is suppossed to be. I had to use a com;bination of the to to get rid of a browser hiijack once, yikes that sucked. If you don't do it already, make sure you go out there and get those windows updates, that helps a bunch too. |
