Lavell era smack is starting to get a little weak, but it's still important in that it built the current BYU fan base and program reputation which dwarves the U's and at least most of us were around to witness it. I can't think of anything about the 1930's relative program strength that has any bearing on today.

Yawn.

History starts from the beginning. Always has. Always will. Except, apparently, for BYU fans.

I'll give you the 20's and 30's if you want it that bad.

Just because it's not relative to your lifetime, doesn't mean it isn't relative.

Fine. But there is also nothing wrong with saying that the Cold War is much more relevant to modern world politics than Alexander the Great.

In my opinion, past history is only relevant as far as it translates to current program strength in the form of fan base, attendance, facilities, endowment, TV revenues, recruiting base, national recognition, etc.

The only thing relevant about Bronco Nagurski is that he had a cool first name. Modern football has only existed since the 1960s. The brand of football played before then is so obsolete as to make it a complete waste of time to track and remember.

As I said, history starts from the beginning. But if it helps you to feel better about BYU being behind in the head to head series, more power to you.
