Default a beautiful voice

Is there a more beautiful voice, laced with the pathos we place on it, than Karen Carpenter's?

I used to mock the Carpenters for their sappy style, but she really did have a fabulous voice.

Karen Carpenter had an incredible voice, I agree; however, my choice would be Mary Fahl from October Project (and is now a solo artist):

I have long loved Karen Carpenter's voice. You can say what you want about the Carpenter's lyrics, or their arrangements, but Karen's voice is beautiful.

October Project is pretty good. I'm surprised someone else knows who they are.

That's OK becasue I don't think Karen needs it anymore.

I do prefer Karen, however. As a kid I hated the Carpenters until I heard Karen sing the cover of Leon Russell's Superstar. Clear, on pitch, strong and full of mournful sadness that transcended the song itself.
