Get some selections from the Ring. Remember Apocalypse Now, early on, as the helicopter is descending on the Vietnames village and Robert Duvall turns on Classical music booming out across the skies? That was Wagner's "The Ride of the Valkyries", at the beginning of Act III of Die Walküre, which is part of the Ring tetrology. That melody is a recurring motif througout the operas.

The melody has been repeatedly ripped off and adapted in various contexts, primarily scores for war scenes.

I like Mozart's piano concertos. Murray Pariah is great. For Mozart I love Vladimir Ashkenazy. Murray Pariah's recitals of Schubert are among his best.

Mozart is my fav.

But I listen to more opera than classical.
