MikeWaters is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Abraham Verghese

Tina Brown interviews Verghese about his new (and first novel). I've read his nonfiction "My Own Country" (very good) and "The Tennis Partner" (not as good). I've listened to him speak, and had him sign my copy of "The Tennis Partner." He was a physician in El Paso working for Texas Tech, then was hired at University of Texas - San Antonio. Neither of these places are exactly world-renowned. Now he is a tenured full-professor at Stanford.

I'm not particularly interested in reading this book. But I do feel a connection to the author, in the sense that I have met him and he is a physician.
