What law(s) did Bybee break in opining that waterboarding wasn't torture? Additionally, what doctrine(s) did Bybee directly refute in order to hold that opinion?

Torture is not against LDS doctrine? Are you sure you're not mixing up a doctrine with a policy? I just want to be sure here, because I'm a little confused about the difference in LDS world. Torture is okay per LDS higher ups. Okay, we've got that straight. Is that really doctrine or is it policy?

No. It's Labute's account. The church has been silent on its end.

The church is silent about why they disfellowship and excommunicate people. Except when they are not silent.

In other words, it is a matter of convenience for the church on whether they give their side of the story.

Labute is no longer a member of the church. I think he had his records removed, or maybe he was excommunicated. I don't know. His LDS wife divorced him as well.

Did you mean US Law or God's law?

US law - 1994 Torture statute + case law where the USA tried and convicted people of torture for using waterboarding.
