We should compare capital gains in other countries, and AMT is just plain stupid.

I hate the AMT.

Tax rates are the reason I sit on my butt and post on internet boards.

If I made an extra $50,000, I end up with about $22,000 of it. I figure I would have to work an extra 30-40 hours a month to do that. Not worth it.

Exactly.

It would be easy to bring a lot more, but why do it? I could employ more people and help others but for a lot more headaches, and very little take home, I figure it's better to be poor than to scrape by to pay taxes.

If I knew I could get ahead make a couple of hundred extra, then I'd put in the extra time, make the capital and labor investment. Yet that's a huge headache for very little benefit.

With Hillary seeking to destroy incentives, I'll just be lazy to avoid paying extra contributions to bureaucrats whose main desire is to make my life miserable.
