The first week of this year we killed our cable subscription. I've long had comcast on-demand with 500+ cannels, dvr, 1080i plasma, etc., but needed a change, so I pulled a george costanza - remember the 'opposite guy' episode.

I now only have local stations, a cable modem, and watch almost no TV. I still have the xbox live account, but I think I'll let it lapse too.

Change is good. We’ll see how long it lasts. The plan is to dump it until football in September (I can only go so far).

I've thought about doing the same. When my tv is on it's generally for purposes of background noise. The only thing I'd really miss would be the on demand functionality, as it really is way better than having to run to blockbuster twice for each movie.

I don't think I'd even put ESPN in my top 5 - I get all my sports news from the internet and sports radio.

1. Discovery Channel
2. History Channel
3. Comedy Central
4. USA (love 4400, Dead Zone)
5. Spike

Discovery (Mythbusters rocks)
A&E
History Channel
National Geographic
Military Channel

As a side note, does anyone like the new show "Parking Wars" about the Philadelphia Parking Authority? I don't know why but I just love that show. Watching people react as their car gets towed is just too funny.
