I had no expectations for Ocean's Eleven when I first saw it and loved it. That film exceeded my expectations.

Crash exceeded my expectations, but I had little to no expectations going into it.

I may have to go home and look at my DVDs and really think about this, cause I am drawing a blank right now.

As far as TV shows go, I would certainly HAVE to add the OC to that list. While in college I mocked relentlessly my roommates for watching that show the first season that it came out. Until I actually sat down and watched it and it was pretty good. Then I found out my parents watched it as well, and I didn't feel quite as bad.

Dumb and Dumber. I almost didn't see it because I hated Jim Carey so much. Another one is Kingpin. Time to pay the rent!

One movie that really surprised me was the original Halloween. I was expecting a run of the mill slasher movie, but was surprised at how well it was put together. There are only a handful of movies where the music does such a good job of conveying atmosphere -- Jaws and Psycho are a couple of others. In fact, the theme music is so creepy it is currently the ring tone I hear when my soon to be ex-wife calls.

Just saw one. Pursuit of Happyness.

I honestly didnt even know what it was about, just that Will SMith was in it. Turned out to be a very good movie.

Recently, there were a couple:

The latest Rocky was much much better than I expected.
The Descent was much better than I had expected.
