Test your vocab and donate rice to the hungry
www.freerice.com
This is pretty entertaining. You get a never ending vocab test and each correct answer earns a donation of a few grains of rice for the needy around the world. The rice is paid for by the advertisers on the page (they have some big names). A pretty good idea overall. If you get 3 answers correct in a row you are bumped up to the next level of difficulty. If you miss one you drop to the previous level. The highest level is 50 and the FAQ page states it's rare for anyone to get over 48. I've been as high as 45 but I can't stay there for long. I'd bet we have a few here who could hit 48. |

I got to level 41 and about 200 grains of rice, but then I stopped. How much rice can those freakin' people eat? If you read the FAQs, you will see that the rice is harvested using child labor in the Phillipines and Vietnam, so it is cool that they are keeping it local.

That is a cool site. I went until I was at 1000 grains and ended up at level 43. Not bad for a computer geek.

Ironically, the site seems to focus on white rice, when really, whole grain brown rice is much healthier.

I made it to 46 tonight but admittedly got there on a pure guess. I lasted exactly one question.
