Default McCain must walk a fine line tonight.

I think that to be competitive in this race at the end, McCain must let the Bush administration have it starting tonight and all the way to election day. He must do this or he has no chance in my opinion. Last night was about feeling warm and fuzzy with the base, tonight has to be about reach out to the middle. And yet he can't do it in a way that offends his base. It is a tight rope but me must walk it. My guess if I know him is that he will worry less about offending the base and will just say what he thinks.

It will be interesting to see how harsh the rhetoric gets.

I remember Elizabeth Dole doing the same thing in '96, and it worked very well. It is a bit of an awkward way to give an acceptance speech, though. It will be interesting.
