Default Stupid CB football posts

I have no idea if Kessman will be good, but I viewed his highlight video, and it impressed me. I doubt BYU would throw away a scholie to a nonmember.

The best we can do is wait and see.

This is very true. There are a lot of self-proclaimed talent evaluators on CB, and most of them don't know jack squat. They are entitled to their opinions, but sometimes said opinions just shows how stupid they are. This goes for both sides actually. Some take an article from TBS or a Highlight and make the kid out to be the next Reggie Bush. Some look at lack of offers or small compatition and think that they'll be garbage. The reality is, they're almost always in between.

I will admit I haven't watched Kessman's highlight videos; I don't think the kid is going to be a threat on kick returns for the next 4 years, but I could see him contributing. I'm glad he's a Cougar and I'll cheer him on regardless, but I generally think people make WAY too big of a deal out of recruiting before ever watching a kid play for the Cougs. Just my two cents.

The one thing I noticed about him is he is smooth and fluid. Maybe his competition wasn't great, but he had lots and lots of touchdowns and after each one, do you know what he did?

He went over to the ref without fanfare and handed him the ball. No hotdoggin, no showboating, but "hey, I've been here before and will return."

I liked that about him. I like that he is not a bad student.

C'mon Sizzle. You know very well that Idacoug and Brandon Gurney are the epitome of talent evaluators.

On the Ute site, perhaps. But neither of them have their own site in order to stalk recruits and beg them to play for BYU.

You guys should encourage Gurney to do what he does.

Stalking recruits and begging them to play for BYU might be one of the better recruiting tools you could manipulate.

As usual, you make a good point. Perhaps I'll start sending him anonymous tips about high school football players.

Wait Sizzle, so you're telling me that most recruits are somewhere in between garbage and Reggie Bush? That's quite a limb you're out on brother!

I know, rocket science...

The sad thing is, reading Cougarboard you get the feeling that they are part of one extreme or the other. So while there might have been 'some' hyberbole there, it wasn't that great.
