Default almost finished with the Book of Mormon

what a wonderful book. It has taught me:

1. Jesus Christ is our Savior and the Son of God
2. Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God
3. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only true and living church on the face of the earth
4. The Holy Ghost can and will guide and direct you.
5. Faith can produce miracles
6. Heavenly father loves us

I appreciate the BOM for the spiritual lessons learned while reading. I think it teaches us that God loves his children, Jesus loves his brothers and sisters, we are to love one another and each are to strive for personal perfection.

I've thought extensively lately about whether or not it would matter to me if the book was a direct translation, or inspired fiction meant to teach us spiritual allegory. And I came to the conclusion it might not matter, it might not even matter to me if Joseph wrote the book himself because I feel the message contained is from God, is inspired, and was divinely transmitted by way of the human hand.

Ultimately I find myself comforted that we have this record to testify of our Savior, and I hope I can learn a little more what it means, and takes to be a God in our personal universes.

I'll tell you this much: if it is inspired fiction, then I'm out.

Why? I assume as an active member you are ok with 'The Pearl of Great Price' why wouldn't you be ok with the BOM if it was inspired fiction?

Inspired fiction = inspiring story that never happened.

PoGP= (My belief here)True story revealed by God through a prophet who was inspired by possession of egyptian papyri.

I don't even know what inspired fiction is.

A dream inspired vision?

I accept the BoM for what people have testified to me that it is, a religious document, somewhat translated, or received by Joseph Smith, through his scribes Oliver Cowdery and Emma Smith.

I don't see it as a history, but a religious document, which sprinkles localized historical facts.

If it were just a big fat lie, then who cares.
