No, we'd be uneducated nerds, who wrote and spoke badly.

Subjunctive in our language is badly mastered. I must admit until it was introduced to me in foreign languages, I had no idea what it was or how to use it in English.

Y learned Mandarin which doesn't have mood in that sense, so you'll have to excuse his dislike of the mood.
