I assume you are all pragmatists and agree that 1) negative advertizing works and that 2) because of that, Obama must use old line political methods. Even then, how bothered are you?
I am pretty sure he lost my vote with these shenanigans. If anything, I'm definitely not the huge Obamaniac I used to be.

Oh no one is disappointed. No one actually believes that any politician actually represents something different. The all get to where they are in the same way which makes all of them different varieties of the same species. I can't believe anyone believes it to be otherwise.

As I have said before, the change Obama represents is a change to classic liberal democrat policies and politics. If one believes that is what the country needs, so be it. But no one really things that he is anything other than the smoothest, newest, shiniest liberal democrat do they? Not anymore than anyone believes that Sarah Palin is a reformer when we all know her to be a magnificently packaged classic right wing conservative.

No one is this naive unless they are wilfully so. I mean it.

You know what the bill was supposed to do, and you know why Obama supported it (with broad bipartisan support, by the way). You know McCain was lying. You are trying to salvage some semblance of honor and dignity from the ad where there is none to be found. Unsurprising.
Thank you, Aaron Shaff.

Since then there have been a non-stop string of "independent" ads slamming Obama, most of them misrepresentations or near-fabrications.

The negative ad campaigns have been enormously successful for McCain. Obama can either take the higher ground and, unlike McCain, stay true to his word to keep a "respectful," substance-based discourse, and subsequently watch McCain run away with the election. Or, alternately, he can try to stay competitive and start throwing his own ads out there. It seems he's decided to go with the latter, having given permission for pro-Obama 527s to form for the first time last week.
the primaries. Of course he never, in 20 years, sat in on one of those sermons.

Speaking of outright lies, the Obama campaign tears Limbaugh quotes out of context to tar McCain.

This is such a fabrication, it's truly hilarious. Obama is truly counting on people being stupid.
