Default I am evil

It's more important to me to have money to send my kids to college than to provide free health care for the poor.

Count me as evil as well. I believe in self sufficiency.

Yes, because that is clearly the choice. If you help people to have health care, you can't possibly have enough to send your kids to college.

Come on, be honest. You don't want to help the poor because you don't think they deserve any help.

(I don't like dishonest conservatives).

Really? You do? Did you attend a public school? Did you drive to work on a road I helped pay for today? Did you fly on an airline whose safety was paid for by me? Do you work for a corporation that gets corporate welfare benefits? Do you ever rely on the police for protection? Did you purchase a vehicle whose safety standards were dictated by the government? I paid for that. Did you enjoy a drink of clean water today that I helped cover? Did you flush the toilet today and watch your crap float away on my dime? Are you currently using the internet which wouldn't exist without public funds?

Just curious.

No, it's important to you to spend way too much for healthcare, instead of getting similar quality care with enough money left over to also help others. That's how selfish conservatives are. They'd rather throw money away than use it for anything other than personal gain.

Yeah because we have so many examples of how much more efficient the government is than the private sector. :???:

Why appeal to the general when we have a decent idea of what the specifics would be? Americans pay at least double for healthcare than what they do in Europe and elsewhere, yet by all accounts our healthcare is on the average significantly worse.

And it isn't just about money. We just got a $6000 emergency room claim denied, because my wife forgot to disclose that she used a prescription topical acne cream for a couple weeks last year. I recognize that the federal government is inefficient, but nothing is as inefficient as private insurance companies. Combine their inefficiency with their complete lack of ethics, and it's hard not to be completely disgusted by those who defend them.

why are veterans not clamoring for private insurance instead of the VA system?

Why is the administrative cost for medicare much less than the cost for private insurance?

Why are all my friends going into private practice refusing to take anything but cash?

Increasingly I've come to the conclusion that the present system is untenable.
