Default Serious question re: Bush's responsibility

Two questions:

How is Bush or his policies responsible for the huge increase in the price of gasoline and the housing/mortgage crisis?

What would Dems do differently to address the two problems?

mortgage crisis not his fault.

his ventures into the middle east have caused instability in the region and is responsible for the volatility in oil prices.

The price of gasoline is, at least in part, due to his poor policies in the Middle East. It is also due, in part, to a total failure on the part of each administration over the past 30 years to plan for energy independence from a highly volatile part of the world with interests in direct opposition to ours. Reducing fuel efficiency standards in this administration also didn't help matters, as that effectively reduces demand.

Pardon me?

Reducing standards reduces demand? You've never been very astute in economics, but please explain yourself out of that one.

No, the sentence wasn't phrased very well.

Bush reduced standards. Higher standards reduce demand (so his policies didn't help).
