You should really turn off your browser after you leave the library, dude. I was embarrassed for you.

Honestly, Palin should be parading around all the firing she did as mayor and Governor. You know why? Because she can say, "I would have fired Rummy's ass in 2004." If she can fire the local librarian, often the most powerful civil servant in the community, she can fire the Sec of D.

Your story is unfortunate but hardly relevant. There's a substantial difference between a library funded by a private entity and subject to corporate policy, and one funded by tax dollars. The use of public funds cannot be determined by the moral/religious views of one person or her church. The banning/selection of books in public libraries has been the subject of innumerable lawsuits over the years.

Yeah but the books were never removed from the shelves, right? There's still the issue that the librarian was asked to resign, then threatened with termination:

The librarian was reinstated when, according to Palin, Palin had received full verbal assurance the the librarian was "supportive" and "behind her [i.e., Palin]." The librarian resigned later.

So the issue here, as it relates to the vice presidency, is not for most of you what happened in a tiny town library ten years ago. It is what this episode indicates about Palin and how she interacts with those who disagree with her beliefs about what is and what should be.
