Default I know what the church's stance is on

homosexuality and family.

What I want to know is how is homosexual marriage destructive to the family? In what way does marriage of homosexuals undermine traditional marriage?

In the complexities of our society how could we ever devise a study or studies to control to determine harm and causation? I'm not certain I care any more, but if somebody is in my face about it, then like anybody else, I'll tell them to go to hell. Usually that's not the case though.

i'm irritable today, can't you tell?

I htink in the same way that adultery or serial divorce, etc., does. The effect is possibly magnified by the fact that the relationship so sanctioned is inherently immoral in the first place. While a rising tide floats all boats, pulling the plug on the pool sends them all to the bottom.

The more I have thought about it, the more I tend to think that we should make marriage a religious function and domestic unions a state function.

I like this approach.

Default Since there is a mullah shortage on this board...

(as noted by SeattleUte) I'll go ahead and post a link to the mullah viewpoint from CB:

It doesn't.

At least not in a way that doesn't require extreme conjecture or baseless paranoia to comprehend.

Creekster's approach would end the argument entirely. If all heteros and homos were given civil unions by the state, religions would then be free to "marry" whomever they saw fit. Gays would have no legal argument anymore.

Creekster is like the new and improved Harvey Milk, but hopefully he doesn't get assassinated.

So, what are you going to do about the letter to be read on Sunday?

The Catholics have this one right--no one is married in God's eyes unless the Church marries them. Someday we will learn from them on this point and get it right.
So the church should take the position that anything but a temple marriage is fornication?

I came across the news a few days ago on the yahoo.com front page. Can't find that story, but here's a Provo Daily Herald story on the same thing.
