Experience (or lack thereof) and positions, aside, McCain played the media like a virtuoso. Floating Lieberman, Ridge, etc.; leaking that he might name his pick first during Obama's European Messiah tour, then later during the Dem convention; then announcing it at the peak news time the next day ... all of it masterfully done. And then to announce THIS particular pick, which no one (except me, apparently) saw coming! Adds to the shock value.

Compare that to Obama's clumsily handled, string-them-out-all-week, 3-AM-text-message announcement.

Just on style and political nuance points alone, McCain wins on veep picks.
