Well, if

1. these people tend to be more Christ-like than the rest of us and if
2. their salvation is already secure

then why would we want to jeopardize their sanctity and salvation by having them come to earth in an alternate form? After all, with a fully-developed reason they might choose to reject the gospel.

Now that I think of it, perhaps in the interest of guaranteed salvation for as many as possible we should start aborting the properly-developed among us.
