Default A question about problems with a clothes dryer..

My stupid clothes dryer is not putting out any heat. I didn't see any breaks in the heating element, but I did notice that the metal box it's in was cracked, so I replaced it. The kit for the heating element also contained two small thermostats, which I replaced as well so the whole unit would be new.

I'm still not getting any heat for the dryer.

Any ideas as to what it might be?

Thanks in advance.

Check the gas.

Also, you can help the environment by drying your clothes and G's on a clothesline, not to mention save money.

because it has a heating element it probably isn't a gas dryer.

Some dryers have a high thermostat and a high limit switch/breaker. Make sure the high limit switch/breaker isn't tripped (although this might have been what you repalced) and in need of being re-set.

How would I reset it if that's the case? Or would there not be a need if I replaced it?

And Mike, I'd be all for drying the clothes on a line, but my wife is against it. She didn't grow up with line dried clothes like I did.

Nothing like crispy, scratchy underwear. But I do love the smell of clothes that were line dried.

SOme times th ehigh limit can only be re-set by being replaced. Others, as I understand it, are reset like a circuit breaker, with a reset button somewhere. Did your dryer come with a schematic? Mine did and this is what I used to locate the thermostats and high limit switch and eventually replace the correct one.

I'll give that a try. Thanks.

And yes, Piney, the smell of line dried clothes is the best part of it. Mom used lots of fabric softener to help curb the scratchiness.
