Which culture had the longest continuous
sets of rulers or dynasties?
Egypt, Greece, Persia, Rome, or China? And without looking, bonus question, how many dynasties are typically attributed to Egypt's ruling houses?

In order, longest to shortest:
China Egypt Rome (depending on what point you use to start and stop counting. I'll go from Augustus to Constantine) Persia (counting from the Median Empire to Alexander's conquest) Greece (again, depending on what you use to start and stop counting. did they ever have anything you would count as a dynasty? Alexander's empire fell apart almost as soon as it was established). Egypt was 31 dynasties.

You count the Ptolemies? They're a bunch of Greeks that considered themselves Pharoahs. It's much more the remants of Alexander's empire than Egypt's.

True. Cleopatra (the famous one who hooked up with Caesar and Antony) was the only Ptolemy to learn Egyptian - and she was the last of the dynasty. But they considered themselves the 32nd dynasty and were portrayed to the people as such. I have no problem classifying them as such since that's what they wanted. I suppose the ordinary Egyptians didn't really care - all they knew is that they had exchanged one set of rulers for another.
